The Sleepy Hollow Trail residence won an Honor Award in 2017 for design excellence. The residence, a 3,000 square foot home located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, is anchored into its steeply sloped site with retaining walls of Swannanoa stone, western red cedar, and a standing seam metal roof. The linear layout maximizes dramatic views of both short valley and long mountain vistas.
The home is intentionally simple and unadorned with large expanses of glass to take in the surrounding nature—skewing the lines between the interior and exterior. Stone walls and wood beams from the exterior flow through the interior and are complemented with clear maple wood used for flooring, cabinetry, and wall paneling.
